Interventions

Administer prescribed diuretics and monitor for effectiveness. Encourage patient to engage in deep breathing and coughing exercises to promote lung expansion. Monitor oxygen saturation levels and provide supplemental oxygen as needed. Educate patient on the importance of follow-up appointments and monitoring for signs of recurrence.

Rationale

These interventions aim to improve gas exchange, reduce symptoms, and prevent complications associated with pleural effusion.

Evaluation

Patient’s respiratory status and adherence to the treatment plan will be monitored during follow-up visits.
