Diagnosis

Risk for impaired gas exchange related to alveolar damage.

Goals

Patient will maintain adequate oxygenation and experience relief from respiratory symptoms.

Interventions

Administer bronchodilators and corticosteroids as prescribed and monitor for side effects. Encourage patient to use pursed-lip breathing and other techniques to improve breathing efficiency. Educate patient on the importance of smoking cessation and avoiding respiratory irritants. Monitor oxygen saturation and provide supplemental oxygen as needed.

Medications and breathing techniques improve gas exchange. Education and monitoring support long-term respiratory health.

Evaluation

Assess for improvement in respiratory function and oxygenation. Evaluate patient's adherence to smoking cessation and avoidance of irritants.
