Diagnosis

Risk for fluid volume deficit related to excessive urine output.

Goals

Patient will maintain normal fluid balance as evidenced by stable vital signs and absence of dehydration. Patient will verbalize understanding of the importance of medication adherence and fluid intake.

Interventions

Monitor fluid intake and output regularly. Administer prescribed desmopressin to reduce urine output. Educate patient on the importance of adequate fluid intake and recognizing signs of dehydration. Encourage patient to carry a water bottle to ensure constant fluid intake.

Rationale

These interventions help manage symptoms, prevent dehydration, and promote fluid balance in patients with diabetes insipidus.

Evaluation

Patient's fluid balance and understanding of the condition will be monitored to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
