Diagnosis
Risk for ineffective tissue perfusion related to decreased hemoglobin levels.
Goals
Patient will maintain adequate tissue perfusion as evidenced by improved hemoglobin levels and absence of symptoms of anemia. Patient will verbalize understanding of the importance of regular blood transfusions and iron chelation therapy.
Interventions
Monitor hemoglobin and hematocrit levels regularly. Administer prescribed blood transfusions and monitor for reactions. Educate patient on the importance of iron chelation therapy to prevent iron overload. Encourage regular follow-up appointments with a hematologist.
