Diagnosis

Risk for infection related to sinus obstruction.

Goals

Patient will demonstrate resolution of sinusitis symptoms as evidenced by absence of facial pain and clear nasal discharge.

Interventions

Monitor symptoms and administer prescribed medications to relieve symptoms (e.g., decongestants, antibiotics). Encourage adequate fluid intake and use of humidifiers to thin mucus and promote drainage. Educate patient on the importance of completing the full course of antibiotics if prescribed. Encourage use of saline nasal sprays or irrigation to clear nasal passages.

Rationale

These interventions aim to relieve symptoms, promote drainage, and prevent complications associated with acute sinusitis.

Evaluation

Sinusitis symptoms will be monitored to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
