Goals

Interventions
Monitor vital signs and assess for signs of bleeding and shock. Administer prescribed medications to reduce portal hypertension (e.g., beta-blockers). Educate patient on avoiding alcohol and foods that may irritate the esophagus. Prepare patient for endoscopic treatment if necessary.
